I don’t know if the “Denver Boot” causes the same reactions in your area as it does in the UK, but I see that we are becoming ever inventive with excuses not to pay the demon clampers….
The item starts:- “An Eastbourne resident who parked in a disabled bay following an operation returned from shopping to find his vehicle clamped. Alec Richards, from Langney, had had a vasectomy two days prior to the incident and says he parked in the disabled bay outside Next at the Crumbles Retail Park because he was finding it difficult to walk. He did not have a disabled orange sticker but had left a note in the car window to explain why he had parked there.”
OK so far?? Maybe a bit OTT parking in a disabled bay for this reason?? It gets more involved:-
“The 41-year-old says that despite his protests, he was ordered to pay a £100 fine to get the clamped removed. But instead he managed to move the vehicle from the car park and a member of the public removed the clamp”.
Well, we all hate the clampers, and maybe we’d all like to do this. BUT….
“In the case of this particular incident at Sovereign Harbour Retail Park, Mr Richards and his wife parked in a disabled bay outside the Next store in order to go shopping in the nearby Asda supermarket. As Mr Richards’ car was parked in a disabled bay but was not displaying a disabled badge the vehicle was clamped”.
