A tubal ligation procedure is undertaken only after a lot of thought and consideration as it is normally seen as something that will be permanent. Many women who do go down this route then regret it years later when they realize they do want more children. Pregnancy rates after a reversal tubal ligation are high and the covalence period is quick. This could be the option for you if you want to add to your family.

It is not automatic that you can have your tubal ligation reversed. To find out more, then visit a tubal reversal doctor who will carry out an appraisal by examining your fallopian tubes with the aid of a laparoscope. This is a tiny camera used to investigate the insides of your tubes to assess their health. The factors that will determine if the reversal specialist thinks your tubes are fit enough to operate on include how they have been blocked (tubal occlusion), how healthy your tubes look after investigation and how much of your fallopian tube is remaining to be re-attached, your age and current health will also be taken into account

A reversal involves rejoining the two parts of the fallopian tube that remain after a section has been tied, clamped, or burned. The diameter of the diaphragm is significant; if the two parts are similar in size the operation will be more successful. The longer the fallopian tubes the higher the prospect you will conceive.

Tubal ligation reversal is a decision that should be carefully thought through; the procedure is not especially difficult and can be carried out as an outpatient under a local anesthetic. Once you are back at home you are advised to rest for at least a week. If you experience any bleeding, infection or allergic reaction you should contact the clinic or hospital where the surgery took place straight away and have them see you.

The actual tubal ligation procedure only takes around an hour and the chances of getting pregnant after a tubal ligation reversal are higher than pregnancy rates for in-vitro fertilization and it will certainly be a cheaper alternative

Of course, there is no certainty that you will conceive after having a reverse tubal ligation just as there is no certainty that any woman will become pregnant even if she hasn’t had tubal surgery. Your age and health will affect your chances of getting pregnant, younger women get pregnant a lot easier than those over 35 and 40.

For women who are uncertain about tubal ligation reversal surgery there is always in-vitro fertilization. This is a method used by many women who have previously had their tubes tied. Success rates however are not as high as a tubal ligation reversal and there are higher costs involved.IVF also involves numerous visits to the clinic and a lot of medical procedures are involved.

Tubal ligation reversal surgery has been shown to have a higher success rate than IVF treatment for women who are trying to conceive. There are specialized fertility clinics that can answer all your questions and explain the procedure in detail for you. An experienced surgeon in tubal ligation reversal will have done the procedure hundreds of times before and have a lot of success in helping women add to their family.

Send your operative reports to Dr.B and you will be able to find out if you are a good candidate for surgery.The type of TL that you have had has a lot of successful pregnancies.(on the weekly pregnancy lists) The great thing about TR is that you can try every month without the expense of IVF.

Hi Kate, I had the same thing done (called a modified pomeroy). I got a BFP two months after TR but it ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks due to chromosomal abnormality. I have had a long year since then and haven’t been able to try the whole time, but I am currently 5 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow. I ended up with 7cm on each side. Dr. Berger is very good at what he does. I would rather know I have a shot each and every month than pay $10,000 for a gamble per month, not to mention the toll on your body from all the fertility drugs and trauma to your ovaries.

My gyn dr say that it is just from stress….trust me, I have a 3 yr old and a 4 yr old but I am not that stressed….what does everyone else think about this? She wanted to give me Depo to make my body cycle but I refused….any comments? [Confused]

After my TL my cycle messed all up. It has not been normal after the TL. I did the shot no help and then did pills for away and still no help. Could be stress that does happen but the foods you are eating could too. If you are not taking in everything your body needs your cycle could stop. Pray about it and hang in there cause some times it helps to know your not alone. I went all most 7 months was the longs for me.
