A Brief about the chances of conception after Tubal Ligation

Many doctors will advise their patients that invitro fertilization is necessary to conceive after tubal ligation. Ligation (tubal) is a surgery in which a woman’s fallopian tubes are tied or severed as a birth control measure. Women who do not wish to have any more children often opt for this surgical method over other popular methods of birth control. However, a woman may change her mind after having this surgery done and may wish to have more children.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to resort to IVF in order to conceive after ligation. In fact, a ligation reversal surgery can be done by an experienced surgeon and the tied fallopian tubes can be reopened with the help of microsurgical tubal reanastomosis. The chances of conceiving after a tubal reanastomosis without invitro fertilization are quite good. In fact, 70% of the women who have already undergone tubal ligation surgery earlier and later underwent tubal reversal are able to conceive within one year in a natural manner. The success rate depends on many factors like the woman’s age, the condition of the fallopian tubes, the quality of the sperm etc. In this surgical procedure, one or both the fallopian tubes are reconnected successfully. However, it is important that the concerned patient’s health is good and allows for this surgical procedure.

In vitro fertilization is not necessary in cases where tubal ligation has been reversed using the microsurgical tubal reanastomosis method. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia through a small incision below the bikini line. The procedure takes about 1-2 hours only. The operating surgeon will inspect the pelvic cavity, uterus and the fallopian tubes. Usually, there are two remaining segments of the tubes – one that emerges from the uterus and the other that ends with the fimbria next to the ovary. These two ends are reopened and reconnected to form normal fallopian tubes. The abdominal incision is closed with the help of absorbable sutures and injected with long lasting local anesthesia. This surgery may have its complications and it is important that the surgeon you choose has good experience in performing this type of surgical procedure.

Just a Snip! Does The Word ‘Vasectomy’ Make Your Partner Cross His Legs Uncomfortably? Read on for a Quick Q & A…

Crossing his legs and running for cover could simply mean that your partner is uniformed about the vasectomy procedure. Before making the decision, both partners should be educated in what the procedure involves and you will then be able to make your decision with greater confidence.

The following questions and answers are commonly asked by others so compare this list with your concerns, and if still not sure, discuss with your doctor.

1. Basically, what is a Vasectomy?

In reality, it’s a very simple 20 minute operation that leaves a man unable to father children. It involves cutting the two tubes, called vas deferens, which run from the testes to the urethra. Simply explained, this ‘cut’, in the two tubes, prevents the sperm from reaching the semen. Although the man continues to have sexual intercourse and climax as before, as explained, his semen does not contain sperm and he cannot father a child after the vasectomy.

2. How Is It Done?

A Vasectomy is a simple procedure normally carried out in a day clinic, using a local anesthetic. A small incision is made in the upper part of the scrotum under the penis. The vas deferens are ‘tied’ off and then cut apart. Depending on the size of the incision, it may require some stitching.

3. Are There Any Complications?

Yes, as in any surgical procedure, there could be complications and you should discuss this with your Doctor. However, having made that point, a vasectomy ranks among the safest surgical procedures. You will experience some minor bruising and discomfort (often described as a dull ache) but recovery takes only a few days.

4. How Soon Afterwards is it Effective? (Meaning “How soon Can I have Sex?)

The operation IS NOT effective immediately. After the operation, general thought is that it can take 16-20 ejaculations to expel all the stored sperm, before a man can be declared infertile. Better safe that sorry! Men are able to resume a normal sex life as soon as they wake up from the operation, if they wish, but additional contraceptive measures are advisable for the first few weeks. Above all, bear in mind, that a vasectomy does not mean that a man has to abstain from sex for any period of time, and that it also DOES NOT have any impact on your ability to get or sustain an erection.

5. Can a Vasectomy be Reversed?

You should consider a vasectomy to be permanent. If there’s any doubt, or if you think you might need your fertility again at a later stage, then this procedure is not for you. There are delicate microsurgery operations that are quite complicated, that may be able to reverse the effects of the vasectomy, but there is no guarantee that the flow of sperm can be restored. It is therefore best to assume that the procedure will be permanent.

6. What is the cost of a Vasectomy?

This can range from 0 to 00, but this cost is covered under many health insurance programs. Check if the cost is provided under the benefits of your coverage. It is worth noting, that the cost is significantly lower than the cost of sterilization for women.

Once you have made a decision whether or not to have the vasectomy, please take a little time to consider the importance of looking after your prostrate. A total of approximately 10 million American men suffer with prostrate problems and I would therefore strongly advise that you start taking a supplement to ensure the health of your prostrate. Please CLICK ON THIS LINK and consider the Prosta Rx capsules which will provide a broad spectrum of nutritional support, or the Ultra Saw Palmetto & Pygeum Capsules if you are suffering with low libido and sexual stamina. Do remember that the sooner you start looking after your prostrate health, the longer you will stay healthy and sexually active – Good Health Naturally

I have been involved in the Herbal/Natural healing industry for the past 20 years. I have owned my own manufacturing factory plus retail outlets. I have also been responsible for the formulations of all the products I produced and sold. I am passionate about natural healing and firmly believe we should all “treat the cause and not just the symptoms”. During this time I also became very involved in counselling couples with troubled relationships – I found that I could really relate to these people.

In my spare time I am an avid sportsperson having represented my country in swimming and cycling in the veterans catergories.

Tubal Ligation Reversal In India For Regaining Fertility

Tubal Ligation Reversal Surgery

Tubal reversal surgery usually requires a laparotomy which is a much larger incision on the abdomen usually approximately 4 to 6 inches in length. Since the skin and all the muscles and other tissues of the abdominal wall must be cut through there is considerably more discomfort and a much longer recovery time following the surgery as compared to a laparoscopic surgery such as with a tubal ligation.

Some surgeons are now performing tubal reversal surgeries through the laparoscope. However, this is a relatively difficult technique and there is not yet sufficient published data to know what pregnancy rates will be after laparoscopic tubal reversal. Most women will need to be in the hospital for approximately 3 days following tubal reversal surgery and will need to be off work for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks…

Just as a tubal ligation is considered to be major surgery, so is a tubal reversal. Normally, this procedure takes two to three hours and is done under general anesthetic. In order to make your fallopian tubes functional again, the doctor will unclamp; reattach; remove any devices that may be blocking your tubes or place an implant into your fallopian tubes.

This type of surgery does require a hospital stay of at least one night but you may need to remain in the hospital for as much as five days after the surgery. Once you leave the hospital, you can expect to completely recover from the procedure over the course of the next four to six weeks…

Laser Vasectomy – The New Age Surgery

Vasectomy is the common surgical process, which helps to make a man permanently sterile. This permanent procedure of birth control is by far one of the most recommended contraceptives today. That is not surprising in the least, because it is safe, effective, and inexpensive.

There is a traditional and a more contemporary approach to this surgery. The traditional scalpel method is usually preferred by most however the contemporary laser vasectomy is quickly picking up pace. The laser technique was discovered by a series of trials and errors following the invention of the “No scalpel” surgery in China.

As the name says, Laser vasectomy relies on powerful laser beams, which replaces the need for traditional surgical paraphernalia. However, whatever be the type of vasectomy a small incision is first made on the surface with a common surgical blade. This helps to reveal the vas tube. Then a laser beam is pointed at the vas tube, which cuts it through, and then the cut ends that are tied or sealed, as the case may be.

The need for extensive snips is eliminated here and thus this is a preferred form of vasectomy amongst many.

However, there is another approach to laser vasectomy and that is less preferred than the former, however; it is cheaper and faster. Here the vas tubes are positioned below the skin in a certain way and then the laser beams are made to run through the skin finally making contact with the tube. This has a higher risk factor because while the laser beam blindly penetrates into the skin, it has the potential to damage other nerves and blood vessels around the skin. However, some doctors still practice it for people who may not be familiar with its associated disadvantages.

Laser is an acronym for “Light Amplified by Stimulated Emission of Radiation,” and it is popularly used in several other treatments such as appendicitis, tumors, and skin issues, amongst others. Its effectiveness in other medical areas has helped to establish its popularity and that has eventually branched out to laser vasectomy. However, one must know that the powerful laser beam can also have devastative side effects if it is not performed with precaution hence whenever one is opting for laser vasectomy, only experienced experts must be allowed to perform the surgery.

Irrespective of conventional or contemporary methods, vasectomy is a highly effective and safe surgery for men who choose to become sterile to prevent further offspring’s.

Vasectomy, also known as male sterilization, minor surgical procedure performed on males to permanently prevent them from conceiving a child (see Birth Control). In the operation, each of the two vas deferens (ducts that carry sperm from the testes to the urethra) is blocked in order to prevent sperm from mixing with the semen produced by the male during ejaculation.

Vasectomies are more than 99 percent effective in preventing pregnancy, and they are a popular, safe form of permanent birth control. In the United States, 7 percent of women aged 15 to 44 who use contraception rely on the sterilization of their male partner to prevent pregnancy.

A relatively simple procedure, a vasectomy requires only local anesthesia and can be performed in a physician’s office or outpatient clinic. A physician makes a small incision in the scrotum, the external pouch of skin that holds each testis. Each vas deferens is pulled through the incision and the physician cuts and seals the ends of the ducts. Each vas deferens is then put back in place and the incision is closed.

After a vasectomy, the scrotum may be swollen and sore for about three days. Generally, most men are able to return to work in one to two days. Occasionally, however, complications may develop from the operation, including an infection or swelling in the area of the incision, bleeding under the skin, and leakage of sperm into the tissues surrounding the vas deferens.

Because some sperm may have been in the tubes beyond the point at which they were cut, a vasectomy is not immediately effective. It takes about three months for all sperm to completely disappear from the semen. Until the vasectomy takes effect, a couple must use another method of birth control to prevent pregnancy. A vasectomy does not affect a man’s ability to have an erection and ejaculate. The testes continue to produce sperm after a vasectomy, which are simply reabsorbed by the body.

Vasectomy has become increasingly popular in both the United States and Canada. It is also well accepted in many other countries. Nevertheless, vasectomy is still met with suspicion or legal sanctions in some countries, and some religious groups oppose it on the same grounds they oppose all other methods of contraception.

Very rarely, an individual may request a vasectomy reversal. This can often be accomplished surgically, but fertility is restored in only about half of all cases. In general, vasectomy should be considered permanent and irreversible.

Choices for Women with Prior Tubal Ligation

At some point in their lives many women decide to undergo a surgical procedure known as tubal ligation, more commonly called “getting your tubes tied”. Later in their life, they may decide that they wish to have children but are fearful that their tubal ligation procedure was permanent. Actually, this is not the case. There are studies showing a promising future for tubal ligation reversal. This is very reassuring news for women that have undergone a tubal ligation but now plan on having children and raising a family.

Reasons Women Regret “Having Their Tubes Tied”

Many reasons may lead a woman who had previously tied her tubes to regret her decision. Young age at time of the tubal ligation is one of the biggest factors for regret; the younger a woman is at the time of tubal ligation, the higher the chance that at some point she will desire to be pregnant again. Furthermore, some women are pressured by their partners to have their tubes tied, due to various financial or personal issues. In addition, some women may lose their significant other or divorce and subsequently remarry, wishing to have children with their new partner.

Before a woman gets a tubal ligation surgery she should carefully consider how it will impact the rest of her life and if this is something she truly desires. Nevertheless, whatever the reason for regret may by, women with a history of a tubal ligation have excellent options for having more children.

How Tubal Ligation Works

The fallopian tube is the site where an egg and sperm unite to create an embryo. Normally, an egg is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube where it waits to be fertilized by sperm. Following a tubal ligation procedure, sperm cannot reach the egg because the tube is cut off (occluded), which prevents pregnancy.

During a standard tubal ligation procedure, a small incision is made in the abdomen, which allows access to the fallopian tubes. Then, using various surgical techniques, the tubes can be sealed, burned, clipped, or cut. Because of an extremely low failure rate, a tubal ligation is considered a permanent birth control method. However, in the majority of cases, tubal litigations are quite reversible.

Reasons to Consider Tubal Reversal Versus In Vitro Fertilization

Prior to the era of in vitro fertilization (IVF), tubal reversal procedures were extremely common since a tubal reversal was the only way for a woman to become pregnant after a tubal ligation. Since IVF allows for the fertilization of eggs by sperm in the embryology laboratory, rather than the fallopian tube, IVF can bypass the fallopian tube and achieve pregnancy.

Once IVF was developed, IVF became a popular choice for achieving pregnancy for women with a prior tubal ligation. In certain clinical cases, IVF is a better choice for achieving pregnancy with a prior tubal ligation. However, in most cases, because of the lower risk for multiple gestation, lower cost, and high success rate, a tubal reversal procedure is much more beneficial. In experienced hands, this procedure can be performed as an outpatient surgery (requiring no overnight hospitalization) with a fast recovery and excellent results.

Tubal Reversal Results in Successful Pregnancies 65% of the Time.

Multiple studies have shown that a tubal reversal can by highly successful. A recent study out of North Carolina showed promising results for women that wished to become pregnant after having tied their tubes. Of the 2,692 women in the study 1,783 were able to become pregnant after having a tubal ligation reversal, which is about 65 percent of the women involved (better than the best IVF rate of 50.8% as reported by the Jones Institute).

There were many factors which affected the overall success rate including age, method used, and length of the fallopian tubes. Younger women under the age of 30 had a higher success rate than women over the age of 40. Women who had fallopian tubes 7.5 centimeters or longer were much more likely to get pregnant than women who had tubes in length of 2.5 centimeters or shorter.

Overall a majority of women who have a tubal ligation reversal are successful in becoming pregnant. There are many factors that contribute to the success rate of a tubal reversal, and couples interested in having the procedure should discuss these in detail with a doctor experienced in performing the surgery.

The good news is that today, women who have had a tubal ligation have choices, including renewed hope for expanding their families.

Vasectomy Reversal in India

Vasectomy Reversal is a surgical procedure with the aim of restoring your fertility after you have had a vasectomy.

Vasectomy is a minor surgical procedure which causes male sterility. It involves cutting the two tubes that carry sperm from your testicles to your penis. These tubes are called the vasa deferentia. A vasectomy is usually considered a permanent operation…

Tubal Ligation Reversal in India

Most women who have undergone tubal ligation and want to conceive once again are unaware of the possibility of reversal and opt for IVF instead. Yet, by having a tubal reversal, you not only increase your chances of conceiving, but the associated costs are also significantly lower than those withIVF….

Alternatives to Vasectomy Reversal In India

MESA, TESA, PESA

For those wishing to avoid the reversal of a prior vasectomy, either for standard In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or for advanced IVF procedures involvng guaranteed gender selection, we are able to offer MESA (Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration), TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration) or PESA (Percutaneous “no incision” Sperm Aspiration). These procedures involve our board certified fertility Urologist aspirating sperm directly from testicular structures at the same time that the eggs from the female are obtained. The recovered sperm are then used to inseminate the waiting eggs….

Revealed! The Intricacies Of A Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversal

It is not unusual to see several men reconsidering their decision to not have children in future. While for some couples it may just be a matter of stopping oral contraceptives or not using prophylactic. For others things may be more complicated particularly in cases where the men have been through a vasectomy procedure. However, if you had a vasectomy in the past but would like to have children now; you can have the vasectomy reversed. The procedure is known as microsurgical vasectomy reversal and through it the doctors can join the vas deferens tube so that the sperm can flow out with the semen and fatherhood can be achieved naturally.

Unless you opt for vasectomy reversal the original vasectomy is a permanent way to avoid pregnancies. Even though the success rate of vasectomy reversal procedures is impressive; there are several factors that come into play which can have a bearing on the results. For instance, choosing an experienced and skilled surgeon can certainly improve your chances of having children after the surgery. Do not hesitate to ask the doctor about his experience in handling similar surgeries and also for recommendations, references and contact details of a few former patients so that you can talk to them, and find out about the outcome of their surgeries and if they had any issues with the surgeon or the clinic

The vasectomy Reversal Procedure:

The surgery is relatively simple and short; it is generally conducted under general anesthesia but you do have the option of choosing local anesthesia; however, even though you will not fell any pain if local anesthesia is used; you will be awake through out the procedure which can be quite unnerving for some people.

The incision made for the surgery is very small and it is made near or over the scar of the initial vasectomy procedure; in the skin of the scortum.

After the incision is made, the surgeon will then locate the ends of the vas deferens that were severed during the vasectomy procedure. These ends will be freed and if there is any scar tissue from the previous surgery; it will be removed so that there are no blockages to the sperm flow. Analyzing the quality of the sperms is also a part of the procedure. The surgeon will use a microscope to determine if the sperms are healthy and if they are still being produced. Another aspect that needs the surgeon
