Many women have had a tubal ligation and then seriously consider becoming pregnant again, Many fertility doctor will say in vitro fertilization (or IVF) is the best or only option.
For most women, however, tubal reversal surgery is actually the better option. Once their tubes are repaired, there is the chance that they could become pregnant naturally each and every month.
With IVF, they have to be injected with medication and have a minor surgical procedure performed each time they attempt to get pregnant. Based on current national statistics, the pregnancy rate for IVF is approximately 27% and costs between $8,000 to $20,000 for each treatment cycle.
At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, the cost for the surgery is $5900 and pregnancy rates are approximately 75%! In almost all cases, tubal reversal is the most successful and cost-effective alternative for pregnancy in women who have been previously sterilized and now desire to have another baby.

Happy Easter and Baby Dust all who are TTC. The easter egg is an ancient symbol of fertility. One of the first references to this is Semiramis (Easter) the Babylonian’s goddess of Fertility. It was widely believed that an egg of wondrous size had fallen from heaven into the Euphrates River. From this marvelous egg – according to the ancient story – the Goddess Astarte (Easter) [Semiramis], was hatched. And so the egg came to symbolize the Goddess Easter.

Carol, a member of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board members, asks other ladies to share their age and FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) levels because she would like to discuss trying to conceive after age 35 and the importance of FSH when trying to achieve pregnancy. An FSH serum assay on cycle day 3 can determine if a woman has a good number of healthy eggs left in her ovaries. An elevated FSH level indicates a reduction in the quantity of eggs. A normal or low FSH level shows that there is a good reservoir of eggs for future ovulations. Carol had tubal reversal surgery with Dr. Berger in April 2008 and is optimistic that she will be able to conceive a pregnancy since her FSH was low (less than 2) and her tube lengths after surgery were 6.5 cm and 7. 0cm.
