Hmmm. Is it possible that the girls who were found to have -related behaviors 5 years later were already insecure about their bodies at the time that magazine reading was counted, making them more likely to be interested in reading diet-related things and fluffy, superficial, image-based in the first place? I’m not suggesting that and media have no influence on , but am curious to find out if the study really supports the conclusions we’re reading in the news outlets, such as the NYTimes piece linked below.
